Feeling pinned by “it’s complicated”? We explore a calm way to navigate messy boundary moments without drama or self-doubt. When history, power, or office politics make everything feel loaded, our minds swirl. We slow that swirl with a simple framework: step back, sort the noise, and choose one small next move that raises your sense of control.
We start by naming why certain interactions feel heavier than others—off‑record comments that linger, hazy agreements, HR tensions, and the quiet pressure to just tolerate. Instead of feeding the overwhelm, we use a gentle dissociation technique from coaching and hypnotherapy: take one mental step back so you can separate what happened from what it did to you. Then we put everything into three buckets. Facts hold dates, words, witnesses, and specific agreements. Impact captures how the moment touched your sleep, focus, and confidence. Next move is a doable action you can take today, not a grand fix.
You’ll hear practical tools you can use right away, including a two‑line note after any incident—date, what happened, and its impact—that builds clarity over time. We share a simple script for clean communication: “For clarity, I’m going to summarise what we agreed in writing.” These small moves reduce confusion, support calmer conversations, and create a useful record if you ever need backup. The goal is not to harden your edges; it’s to bring steadiness to complex spaces so you can protect your energy and work with more ease.
If you’ve been telling yourself it’s too complex for boundaries, this mini guide offers a kinder path forward. Try the buckets, pick one tiny action, and let progress be enough for today. If something here lands, keep it. If not, leave it. Either way, you’re allowed to move at your pace. Subscribe, share this with a friend who needs calm clarity, and leave a review to help others find the show.

Welcome back to ABGW Amazing, Brilliant, Gorgeous, Wonderful. This is episode two in this short mini series. Five minutes, one idea, one small shift you can actually use. So today we're looking at the thoughts, this is too complex for boundaries. When something feels complex, I don't know about you, it usually means that there's some kind of history or power or risk or some sort of politics behind it.
SPEAKER_00:Um maybe something maybe something said off record that didn't feel off the record at the time. I'm trying to think of maybe sometimes when we're dealing with HR issues, the point is it isn't just set a boundary.
SPEAKER_01:The point is it's the point is to stop making complexity proof that you must tolerate everything. One of the things that we often do in hypnotherapy and in coaching is called disassociation. Disassociation here means stepping back, uh getting a different perspective and sorting through the mess, sorting out what information is relevant and what's not. Think of it like inking water. You can't clearly think you can't think clearly while it's all swirling around. So three buckets, facts, impact, next move.
SPEAKER_00:Okay. So facts.
SPEAKER_01:What actually happened, dates, word, witnesses, the impact it's had, so if it's impacted your sleep, the confidence, your concentration, and next move.
SPEAKER_00:One small action that increases your feeling of control.
SPEAKER_01:Right now, I want you to imagine picking one recent moment and putting it in one of those buckets. Nothing clever, no big deal. Just put it in cleanly. One practic one practical step today you might want to try is to write a two-line note to yourself after any incident, the date, what happened, and the impact it had. Um, for example, you might want to use for clarity, I'm going to summarize what we agreed in writing. Okay, so that's it for today. If anything landed with you, let it stay there. If it didn't, that's okay. It's just only for information only, remember. In the next episode, we'll gently look at the thought. This won't work for me. My situation is different. And what I would like you to remember, you don't need to do anything dramatic with anything that you've heard today. I just want you to notice what beings came up for you. And if you'd like a bit more of extra support, you can download my emotional birthday kit at her guru.co.uk. Now, if there's for mom, it's I created the emotional first day kit basically for moments like this where you need to take a call and you don't know how to do it. Because remember, every step you take, no matter how small, is a step towards a brighter, more balanced future. Trust in your journey and remember, progress is progress, no matter the pace. Bye for now.
